Primary and secondary school students interested in joining the Student Drawing Competition of Hong Kong Flower Show 2010 are invited to enrol through their schools before February 12.
The competition, organised by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD), will be held on March 19 (Friday) from 9am to noon at Victoria Park.
The competition will feature drawing by students of flowers and garden displays at the showground with a view to enhancing their awareness of conserving plants and the natural environment.
The theme of this year's drawing competition is "Floral Dreams of Children". Participants may draw or paint any floral exhibit or garden display in the showground to illustrate their floral dreams.
The competition will be conducted in four categories: Junior Section in Primary School (Primary One to Primary Three); Senior Section in Primary School (Primary Four to Primary Six); Junior Section in Secondary School (Form One to Form Three); and Senior Section in Secondary School (Form Four to Form Seven).
In addition to the champion, first runner-up and second runner-up, 10 highly commended winners and 15 winners of certificates of merit will be awarded in each category.
The prospectus and entry form can be downloaded from the LCSD website: www.lcsd.gov.hk . Completed forms should be signed by the principal of the participating school and sent to the "Chairman of Fringe Activities Sub-committee, Hong Kong Flower Show 2010" at 1/F, Kowloon Park Management Office, 22 Austin Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon, or submitted by fax (2314 7083) by February 12 (Friday).
The champion, first and second runner-up and highly commended entries will be exhibited in the showground at Victoria Park from March 20-28. All winning entries will then be displayed at the Kowloon Park Arcade and also be available for viewing on the LCSD website in May.
