************************************************************

The Food and Environmental Hygiene Department announced today (January 25) that all services for the disposal of the dead would be suspended on Lunar New Year's Day (February 14).

A spokesman for the department said that on Lunar New Year's Day, all cemeteries and crematoria offices would be closed. No coffin would be accepted for burial at public cemeteries and no cremations would be undertaken at public crematoria.

"Cremation services and burial services will resume as normal on February 15," the spokesman said.

"During the Lunar New Year holidays from February 14 to 16, all permit offices and cremation booking offices will be closed. They will resume business on February 17," he added.
