Appointments to Social Enterprise Advisory Committee announced

     The Secretary for Home Affairs, Mr Tsang Tak-sing, today (January 15) announced the appointment of members to the Social Enterprise Advisory Committee for a term of two years with effect from January 15, 2010. The Advisory Committee will be chaired by the Secretary for Home Affairs and its terms of reference are as follows:

a) to advise the Government on the formulation of policies and strategies for supporting the sustainable development of social enterprises in Hong Kong;

b) to advise the Government on programmes/activities that promote development of social enterprises and to monitor their implementation;

c) to foster better understanding and encourage closer co-operation among relevant stakeholders in the development of social enterprises;

d) to undertake research studies on matters pertaining to the development of social enterprises.

     Members of the Advisory Committee include the Chairman of the Advisory Committee on Enhancing Self-Reliance Through District Partnership Programme, social enterprise practitioners as well as members from the business and academic sectors who are keen to promote the development of social enterprises.  The membership list of the Advisory Committee is as follows:

     The Secretary for Home Affairs, Mr Tsang Tak-sing, thanked various sectors for their support for the development of social enterprises.
