Critical case of human swine influenza in Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital

     The spokesperson of Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital (PYNEH) today (January 12) made the following announcement regarding a newly confirmed critical human swine influenza case¡G

     A 79-year-old male patient with a history of respiratory disease and hypertension was admitted to Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital via the Accident and Emergency Department on January 11 for fever, shortness of breath and chest infection. His test result for HSI was confirmed positive today. His condition deteriorated subsequently and he was transferred to the Intensive Care Unit for further treatment. He was prescribed with Tamiflu and antibiotics. He is now in critical condition and requires ventilation support. The hospital will closely monitor his condition.
