     In response to the changes to the post of Permanent Secretary for Home Affairs, the Secretary for Home Affairs, Mr Tsang Tak-sing, today (Jan 11) gave the following remarks:

     "Mrs Carrie Yau is a veteran Administrative Officer with a great wealth of experience in public administration. During her tenure as the Permanent Secretary for Home Affairs, she has given me valuable advice and ably led the civil service colleagues of the Home Affairs family to meet various challenges, including the Equestrian Events of the 2008 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games as well as the 5th East Asian Games. I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to Mrs Yau for her dedication and commendable service. I wish her all the best in her new appointment and a happy retirement.

     "I also look forward to co-operating with Mr Raymond Young. With his extensive experience and proven capability, I have every confidence that Mr Young will be able to bring unity to Home Affairs colleagues in facing the challenges ahead."
