The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:
The Haven of Hope Hospital spokesperson announced today (January 8) that a total of five patients (one male and four female, aged 48 to 88) of a pulmonary ward have presented with diarrhoea and vomiting symptoms since January 5. The test results of three patients were positive to Norovirus. All patients concerned are being treated under isolation and in stable condition.
Infection control measures of the ward concerned have been enhanced, thorough cleansing and disinfection have been carried out. There will be no admission to and discharge from the concerned ward for the time being, visiting is also suspended. All other patients in the ward are under close medical surveillance.
The cases have been reported to the Hospital Authority Head Office and the Centre for Health Protection for necessary follow up.
