A critical case of human swine influenza at Princess Margaret Hospital

The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:

     The spokesperson of Princess Margaret Hospital (PMH) today (January 7) made the following announcement regarding a newly confirmed critical case of human swine influenza:

     A 43-year-old female patient with adjustment disorder attended the Accident & Emergency Department of PMH on January 6 due to fever and shortness of breath. She was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit and her test for human swine influenza was confirmed positive on the same day. The patient was prescribed with Tamiflu and antibiotics. She is now in critical condition and requires ventilatory support. The hospital is closely monitoring her condition.
