Activities targeting city development professionals and the education sector are next in line to promote Hong Kong's participation in Expo 2010 Shanghai China (Shanghai Expo).

The two new events follow the successful conclusion of an exhibition promoting Hong Kong's Expo presence at the Hong Kong Brands and Products Expo (HKBPE) at Victoria Park.

The exhibition, which opened on December 12, 2009, came to a close on January 4, 2010. More than two million visitors attended the HKBPE over a three-week period, with many stopping in at Hong Kong's Expo display and exhibition.

As part of the Government's ongoing publicity efforts, and to mark the 100-day countdown to Shanghai Expo, a major Pre-Expo Forum will be held on January 21 (Thursday) at the Grand Hyatt Hong Kong.

The forum is organised by the Hong Kong SAR Government and the World Expo 2010 Shanghai China Executive Committee and presented by the Hong Kong - New York Urban Exchange Group, AIA Hong Kong, and The Skyscraper Museum.

Entitled "Vertical Density, the Public Dimension: A Dialogue between Hong Kong-Shanghai-New York", the forum will bring together government and city officials, developers, planners and architects from Hong Kong, Shanghai and New York to explore how the vital concentration and growth of global cities can be balanced with an enlargement of the civic realm.

Hong Kong's participation in Shanghai Expo covers four aspects: constructing and operating a stand-alone pavilion under the theme of "Hong Kong - A City with Unlimited Potential" to showcase the infinite imagination and creativity of Hong Kong; taking part in the Urban Best Practices Area (UBPA) exhibition with "Smart Card¡PSmart City¡PSmart Life" as the theme; organising a series of activities and performances in and outside the Shanghai Expo site during the Shanghai Expo period; and building a "virtual Hong Kong Pavilion" as well as a "virtual UBPA Hong Kong Exhibition" for the Expo Shanghai Online project to provide netizens with a realistic, virtual experience of Hong Kong's participation.
