A spokesperson of Castle Peak Hospital (CPH) made the following announcement today (December 23):
Five patients (aged from 69 to 84) in a female psychogeriatric ward of CPH had presented with diarrhoea symptoms since December 20. Appropriate tests had been arranged for the patients. All test results of the five patients were positive to norovirus. The patients are being treated under isolation and all are in stable condition.
Admission to the ward has been suspended. Restricted visiting to and discharge from the ward is imposed. Infection control measures of the ward concerned have already been stepped up. All other patients in the ward are under close surveillance.
The cases have been reported to the Hospital Authority Head Office and the Centre for Health Protection for necessary follow-up.
