Appointment to HKEx Risk Management Committee

     The Financial Secretary has appointed Mr Peter Wong to succeed Mr Benjamin Hung as a member of the Risk Management Committee (RMC) of the Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEx).

     The appointment, made under the Securities and Futures Ordinance, is from January 20, 2010, when Mr Wong takes over chairmanship of the Hong Kong Interbank Clearing Limited from Mr Hung and will run until January 19, 2012.

     The RMC was established in March 2000, with the statutory role of formulating policies on risk management matters relating to the activities of HKEx and its subsidiaries for consideration by the Board of HKEx.

     "We are grateful to Mr Hung for his invaluable contributions to the RMC over the past two years," a government spokesman said today (December 23).

     The RMC is chaired by Chairman of HKEx Mr Ronald Arculli.  The other serving members of the RMC include Professor Chan Ka-lok, Mr Marvin Cheung, Mr Fong Hup, Dr Bill Kwok, Mr Edmond Lau and Mr Keith Lui.
