The Secretary for the Environment, Mr Edward Yau, today (December 17, Denmark time) is attending the United Nations Climate Change Conference 2009 (COP 15) in Copenhagen, Denmark.
This morning, he attended an internal meeting of China and other developing countries at Bella Centre, the venue of Copenhagen Climate Change Conference.
He then attended another session of the meeting in the afternoon.
Mr Yau said, ˇ§Although the ongoing negotiations are very tough, I hope that the parties will resolve their differences and move towards a global consensus to tackle climate change, through a succession of negotiations that last until tomorrow.ˇ¨
He was also pleased to see that MyCar, an electric vehicle developed in Hong Kong, was deployed as one of the shuttle vehicles for delegates attending COP15.
Mr Yau will continue to take part in the COP15 meeting and attend the closing session tomorrow (December 18).
