The Hong Kong Red Cross Blood Transfusion Service (BTS) is appealing to people with Type A or O blood groups to donate blood immediately because of a decline in the number of blood donations and an increasing demand for type A and type O blood. "To ensure an adequate supply of blood, we urgently need about 1,000 people to donate blood every day (in particular type A and type O blood donors)," a Hospital Authority spokesman said today (December 17).
"Every minutes count in saving lives," the spokesman said, "and many patients are waiting for blood type A or O donations." All blood donors will be presented with a "Q-Bloodboy Shopping Bag" from now until stocks run out.
