An intense winter monsoon will arrive at the south China coastal region later tomorrow (December 15) and bring cold weather to Hong Kong in the latter part of the week.
The area of high pressure over China is intensifying. An intense winter monsoon is expected to arrive in the south China coastal region later tomorrow. Winds in Hong Kong will strengthen from the north and temperatures will start to fall. Cloudy and rainy weather will also set in and cold weather will persist for the rest of the week. Temperatures will drop to around 12 degrees in the urban areas, and a few degrees lower in the New Territories.
The Hong Kong Observatory reminds people to prepare for the cold weather, such as making ready warm clothing, checking heating devices and taking steps to protect themselves and their families against cold weather.
