Secondary School Profiles 2009-2010 to be released on Monday
************************************************************

The following is issued on behalf of the Committee on Home-School Co-operation:

The Committee on Home-School Co-operation (CHSC) today (December 11) announced that the printed version of the Secondary School Profiles 2009-2010 in Chinese will be delivered to primary schools for distribution to parents with children at P6 level in the current school year starting Monday (December 14).  The e-version of the profiles (in Chinese and English) will also be uploaded onto the webpage of the CHSC on Monday.

The Secondary School Profiles 2009-2010 contain information provided by individual schools showing the position as at September 2009.  The profiles cover basic information of more than 400 secondary schools, such as teaching staff information, school curriculum, class structure, school facilities, extra-curricular activities, school life and school characteristics; as well as the schools' teaching strategies including whole-school language policy.

The profiles aim to provide comprehensive secondary school information for parents' reference.  Professor Wong Po-choi, Chairman of the CHSC, wrote an article entitled "Letters to parents - New Thoughts on Selection of Schools" for the profiles to share relevant experience.
The e-version of the profiles enables schools to update their information on the web direct, whenever necessary, and parents can obtain the most up-to-date school information. According to statistics, the number of browsers was around 6.1 million, while the number of pages viewed was more than 54.5 million per year.  This reflects the popularity of the e-version.

The public can access the e-version of the profiles on (http://www.chsc.hk/secondary) starting on Monday.  Copies of the printed version will be available for public reference at District Offices, public libraries, Regional Education Offices and the Central Resources Centre of Education Bureau (EDB).

For enquiries about the Profiles, please call EDB's Regional Education Offices (Hong Kong: 2863 4646; Kowloon: 3698 4108; New Territories East: 2639 4876; and New Territories West: 2437 7272), or the CHSC Secretariat (3698 4379 or 3698 4376).
