The spokesperson of Prince of Wales Hospital (PWH) made the following announcement regarding a newly confirmed critical case of human swine influenza (HSI) today (December 7):
A 51-year-old female cancer patient attended the Accident and Emergency Department of the hospital for pneumonia and diarrhoea on December 6. She was admitted into the isolation ward and HSI was confirmed today (December 7). Tamiflu and antibiotics have been prescribed. Her condition deteriorated today and she was transferred to the Intensive Care Unit. She is now in critical condition and requires ventilation support. The hospital will continue to closely monitor her condition.
