The following is issued on behalf of the 2009 East Asian Games (HK) Ltd:
The 2009 East Asian Games (Hong Kong) Limited (the Company) has enhanced the ticketing services of the Games by setting up four additional on-site ticket sale counters.
At present, tickets for eight competition events (i.e. Table Tennis, Volleyball, Tennis, Hockey, Badminton, Football, Rugby Sevens and Weightlifting) and the Closing Ceremony are still available. These events take place at seven venues.
There have been prior arrangements to set up sales booths at three venues, including Siu Sai Wan Sports Ground (Football), Hong Kong Stadium (Football/Rugby Sevens)and Hong Kong Coliseum (Volleyball/Closing Ceremony). Now on-site ticket booths will be set up at four additional venues, namely Queen Elizabeth Stadium (Table Tennis/Badminton), Lai Chi Kok Park Sports Centre (Weightlifting), King's Park Hockey Ground (Hockey) and Victoria Park Tennis Centre (Tennis). The number of on-site box offices for Hong Kong 2009 East Asian Games (EAG) has increased to seven.
The new ticketing arrangement was launched at 4pm today (December 3), when tickets for Table Tennis were sold to the public at the newly set up on-site ticket counter at the Queen Elizabeth Stadium in Wan Chai.
A spokesperson of the EAG Company said that under previous arrangements, tickets were generally offered for advance bookings at designated outlets as spectators tended to get their tickets in advance. But in view of public requests for getting tickets from on-site box offices after conclusion of the first day¡¦s EAG events, the Company has speedily introduced new ticketing arrangements.
Operation of the on-site ticket booths will start two hours before the commencement of the competition and close one hour before the end of the day's last event. Only cash payments are accepted.
As tickets may go fast, the Company advises the public to plan early and get their tickets in advance to avoid disappointment upon arrival at the venues. The Company will make early announcements should tickets for individual events are sold out.
The opening hours of the ticketing counters at the seven venues are set out in the Annex.
