Critical case of Human Swine Influenza at Caritas Medical Centre

The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:

     The spokesperson of the Caritas Medical Centre (CMC) made the following announcement regarding a new case of critical human swine influenza patient today (November 29):

     A 58 year-old male patient with obesity and hyperlipadaemia was presented with flu symptoms since November 27.  He attended the Accident and Emergency Department of the CMC on November 28 for chest infection and respiratory failure. He was admitted to intensive care unit with ventilation support and is in critical condition. The test result for human swine influenza was confirmed positive today (November 29). He was prescribed with Tamiflu and antibiotics. The hospital is closely monitoring his condition.
