Red Ribbon Centre Open Days

     The public will have a chance to learn about the work of the Department of Health's AIDS education and resource arm, the Red Ribbon Centre, during its Open Days from Tuesday to Friday (December 1-4).

     The open day marks the World AIDS Day on December 1 and is one of the highlights of the World AIDS Campaign 2009. People are invited to visit the Red Ribbon Centre from 9am to 1pm and from 2pm to 6pm during the period. A guided tour will be arranged at 4pm each day to brief visitors about the services and facilities of the Red Ribbon Centre.

     "The centre is an AIDS education, resource and research centre established by the AIDS Unit of the Department of Health. The mission of the centre is to facilitate and enhance the community's response to HIV/AIDS," a department spokesman said.

     "We hope the activities will help increase awareness and eradicate fear on AIDS among the public as well as foster their support and acceptance of people living with AIDS,"he said.

     The Red Ribbon Centre is located on the second floor, Wang Tau Hom Jockey Club Clinic, 200 Junction Road, Kowloon. A location map can be found at http://www.info.gov.hk/aids/rrc/images/map.pdf.      A New Announcement of Public Interest featuring UNAIDS National Goodwill Ambassador for Hong Kong, China, Ms Miriam Yeung with the theme "Travel smart, play safe" will be launched on World AIDS Day on local TV and radio channels. A Putonghua version will be introduced in an AIDS prevention variety show in Shenzhen tomorrow (November 29).
