Want to enjoy dancing and music performances and participate in energetic sporty activities? The Wong Tai Sin Community Carnival on Sunday (November 29) will be an ideal opportunity for people to enjoy performances from performance arts to sports.

"In Support of Hong Kong 2009 East Asian Games - Community Arts Day, Sports Carnival and Opening Ceremony of Wong Tai Sin Square" will be held from noon to 5.30pm on Sunday in the new Wong Tai Sin Square, the adjacent Wong Tai Sin Temple Court, and open space outside Lung Cheung Mall. Admission is free and all are welcome.

To coincide with the theme of Community Arts Festival, the Hong Kong Dance Federation will begin the show by offering a 90-minute Oriental Dances Gala. Dressed in ethnic costumes of East Asian countries, dancers will perform colourful folk dances of China, Korea and Mongolia.

Many more performing groups, district organisations and schools will show their best programmes, including singing performances by Wong Tai Sin Children's Choir, African drums, latin dances, marching band as well as acrobatics. Drama and modern dances from Whole Theatre and E-Side Dance Company will be the highlights of the carnival.

In Wong Tai Sin Temple Court, there will be Wushu, Taekwondo, artistic cycling, artistic gymnastics and lion dances. People may also have a warm-up for the upcoming East Asian Games by participating in games such as EAG Exercise, football, rowing and wind-surfing.

Outside the Lung Cheung Mall, people can join workshops featuring handcrafts and face-drawing.

The carnival is jointly organised by Wong Tai Sin District Council East Asian Games Working Group, Wong Tai Sin District Arts Council, Wong Tai Sin District Office, Leisure and Cultural Services Department, The Link Management Limited and Wong Tai Sin District Healthy and Safe City.
