North District Festive lighting and All Fun Game Day in celebration of EAG

     The North District Office and North District Council will jointly hold a switch-on ceremony for the Hong Kong 2009 East Asian Games' (EAG) lighting decoration and all fun game day at Fanling Recreation Ground on Sunday (November 29) to celebrate the Games in Hong Kong. People are welcome to join and share the joyful celebration of the Games.

     The event will start with the "All Fun Game Day" to be held at Fanling Recreation Ground at 2pm. Participants of all ages can challenge themselves and enjoy the fun of sports at various games booths, which are specially designed under the theme of EAG competition events and body fitness.

     At 7pm, the festive lighting in celebration of EAG in the district will be illuminated at the switch-on ceremony to spice up the festive atmosphere.

     Officiating guests of the switch-on ceremony include the Financial Secretary, Mr John C Tsang, District Officer (North), Mr Donald Chen, Chairman of North District Council, Mr So Sai-chi, Deputy Director General of New Territories Sub-office of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Hong Kong SAR, Mr Zhang Xiaoying, and Chairman of the Working Group on Festival Activities, Mr Hau Kam-lam.

     Pop singers will also stage singing performances after the ceremony.

     The "Switch-on Ceremony for EAG's Lighting Decoration and All Fun Game Day" is open to the public free of charge. Participants can obtain a game card for the "All fun game day" and collect stamps at the game booths for redeeming souvenirs. Seats for the switch-on ceremony are available on a first-come-first-served basis.
