Appointments to Copyright Tribunal announced

     The Government today (November 27) announced that the Chief Executive had re-appointed Miss Gladys Veronica Li Chi-hei as chairman and Mr Kenneth Ho King-man as deputy chairman of the Copyright Tribunal  for a period of two years with effect from December 1.

     The Chief Executive has also appointed three new members and re-appointed four members to the tribunal. The new members are Dr Bernard Chan Pak-li, Mr Cheng Chi-ming and Dr Jack Lau. The four re-appointed members are Ms Emily Cheung Mui-seung, Ms Susanna Chiu Lai-kuen, Mr David Lam Tai-wai and Mr Joseph Tung Yao-chung. The appointments and re-appointments will also take effect from December 1 for a period of two years.

     "We would like to express our gratitude to the retiring members, Professor Ching Pak-chung, Mr Yu Pang-chun and Mr Danny Yung Ning-tsun, for their service on the tribunal over the past six years," a government spokesman said.

     The Copyright Tribunal is a quasi-judicial body established under the Copyright Ordinance.  It adjudicates on disputes concerning the terms and conditions of copyright licensing schemes devised by licensing bodies. The chairman and the deputy chairman of the tribunal must be qualified for appointment as District Judges.

     The membership of the Copyright Tribunal with effect from December 1 is as follows:
