The following is issued of behalf of the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority:
The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (November 26) pursued a claim in the Small Claims Tribunal for about $11,000 on behalf of an employee, who was owed MPF contributions by his employer.
Ng Chun Keung and Tang Sze Man trading as Chun Man Transport Co, did not dispute the amount claimed. The Adjudicator ordered it to pay the MPFA $11,296.84, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable.
The amount awarded at the tribunal will be reimbursed to the employee's MPF account as soon as it is received by the MPFA. The tribunal ordered the defendant to pay costs of $200.
