A critical male patient in TMH confirmed HSI positive

     The spokesperson of Tuen Mun Hospital (TMH) made the following announcement regarding a newly confirmed critical human swine influenza (HSI) case today (November 22):

     A 66-year-old male patient with chronic obstructive airways disease developed flu symptoms on 18 November. He attended the Accident and Emergency Department of Tuen Mun Hospital on the same day and was admitted to a medical ward for treatment. He was transferred to the Intensive Care Unit for further observation and treatment on 20 November. Positive result of human swine influenza was confirmed today (November 22) and he was prescribed Tamiflu and antibiotics. His condition is critical and requires ventilation support. The hospital is closely monitoring his condition.
