The Secretary for the Environment, Mr Edward Yau, today (November 18, Israel time) visited various companies in Israel which are striving for innovations in environmental technologies.
It is the final day of Mr Yau's visit to Israel.
In the morning, Mr Yau met Mr Hezy Kugler, the former Director General of Ministry of National Infrastructure of Israel. They exchanged views on clean energy and energy efficiency.
He was later briefed at Better Place, a leading electric vehicle services provider, on how the company operated a network of charging stations and battery stations.
Mr Yau then proceeded to Hiriya, a closed landfill, to visit a municipal waste treatment plant where electricity and water were generated through a complex biological process without emitting odours or hazardous materials to the atmosphere. He was told that a system was also being installed for the collection of biogas from the landfill.
Mr Yau will leave Israel for Hong Kong this evening (November 18, Israel time).
