Widening of carriageway at Man Kam To Road gazetted

     The Government published a notice in the Gazette today (November 13) on proposed widening of carriageway at Man Kam To Road, which aims to facilitate vehicular access to the extension of food inspection facilities.

     The works include widening and realignment of a section of the existing carriageway and provision of associated footpaths; construction of a pedestrian underpass; temporary closure and reconstruction of a section of the existing carriageway; permanent closure and conversion of a section of the existing footpath into carriageway; and ancillary works including geotechnical works, landscaping, drainage, lighting and utility diversion works, and installation of traffic lights.

     The works will start in 2010-2011 and take about six months to complete.

     The plan and scheme of the works are available for public inspection at the following government offices during office hours:

(i)   Central and Western District Office, Public Enquiry Service Centre, Unit 5, G/F, The Center, 99 Queen¡¦s Road Central;

(ii)  North District Office, Public Enquiry Service Centre, Ground Floor, North District Government Offices, 3 Pik Fung Road, Fanling; and

(iii) District Lands Office, North, 6th Floor, North District Government Offices, 3 Pik Fung Road, Fanling.

     Any person who wishes to object to the proposed works or the use, or both, should write to the Secretary for Transport and Housing, 16th floor, Murray Building, Garden Road, Hong Kong, on or before January 12, 2010.
