Local dance company Passoverdance will launch its new production "Homecoming" next month (December).
The growing social issue of family problems inspired choreographer Pewan Chow to create "Homecoming" with the hope that it will evoke long-forgotten values, particularly about the beauty and warmth of "family and home". Chow is collaborating with Antoinette Mak, Cheung Yan-To, Liz Chui and Rebecca Wong for this performance. The group has also invited Tang Siu-Wa and Woo Ling-Ling to serve as literary and cultural adviser and photography adviser.
They will conduct discussions with the performers during the rehearsal, to enable the performers to have more in-depth expression of the programme's concept.
Pewan Chow was among the first batch of dance students trained at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA). Upon graduation from the HKAPA, she was awarded a scholarship to further her studies in choreography and performance at the London Contemporary Dance School. After returning to Hong Kong, she joined the modern dance faculty at the HKAPA as a lecturer. Recently, she concentrates on research and creation in dance. Her major works include "Journey", "Xin Xiang", "Searchlight", "Passed By" and "Execute I¡VAccomplish".
Founded in 1993, Passoverdance aims to promote local arts and culture through exploration and creation in modern dance, fusing everyday life with the arts, and introducing a positive outlook through positive messages infused in the art appreciation process. It also guides and educates youngsters in self-discovery processes and helps them build confidence, engage in creativity, appreciate and acquire hands-on experience in the arts through arts classes, workshops, activities and dance exchanges.
"Homecoming" is presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department. It will be staged at 8pm, Friday and Saturday, December 11-12, and at 3pm, Sunday, December 13, at the Multi-media Theatre, HKICC Lee Shau Kee School of Creativity. A meet-the-artist session will be held after the performance on December 11.
Tickets priced at $160 are now available at URBTIX outlets. Senior citizens aged 60 or above, people with disabilities, full-time students and Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) recipients may have 50% off (limited quotas for CSSA recipients on a first-come, first-served basis).
