Unlicensed food factory in Wong Tai Sin raided (with photos)

     The Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) this morning (November 10) raided an unlicensed food factory in the market of Wong Tai Sin Shopping Centre and seized about 700 kilogrammes of raw and cooked food, including roast suckling pigs, BBQ pork, cooked chicken and roast ducks.

     A man was charged with operating a food factory business without a licence.

     Under the Food Business Regulation, the maximum penalty for operating an unlicensed food factory is a fine of $50,000 and six months' imprisonment.
 
     "We will continue our stringent enforcement action against unlicensed food business to safeguard food safety and public health," an FEHD spokesman said.

     "People should report such illegal activities through the 1823 Call Centre."
