Government Flying Service open day attracts about 20,000 visitors

     The Government Flying Service (GFS) open day today (November 8) attracted about 20,000 people.

     The open day was held at the GFS headquarters at Hong Kong International Airport, Lantau. Participants took a close look at GFS planes and helicopters, and had fun at various game stalls and exhibitions.

     Flying demonstrations included the J41 Fixed Wing, EC155B1 Dolphin, and an AS332L2 Super Puma Helicopter, which was involved in rescue operations in the Sichuan earthquake last year. A variety of sophisticated search and rescue equipment and engineering maintenance equipment was also featured.

     Exhibitions and game stalls were provided by the Fire Services Department, Civil Aviation Department, Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department, Lands Department, and Hong Kong Air Cadet Corps.

     There were also performances by the Dog Units of the Hong Kong Police Force, the Motorcycle Team of the Civil Aid Service, the Civil Aid Service Band and Hong Kong Air Cadet Corps Ceremonial Squadron.
