The Hong Kong Wetland Park has set a new Guinness World Record for creating the longest painting in the world.

To mark the start of the four-month promotional programme World Wetlands Day 2010¡V"Bird Watching Festival" on October 17, a total of 2,041 students and members of the public gathered at the park to create the 959.35 metre long and 1.2 metre wide painting with the theme of "Birds and Wetlands".

The park was delighted to receive the Guinness World Records certificate on October 30 that recognised its successful attempt for a new world record for the longest painting of numbers. It broke the previous world record of 599.94 metres set in Pune, India.

Part of the "Birds and Wetlands" painting is on display at the Entry Plaza of the park while the Guinness World Records certificate and highlights of the activity are shown at the corridor of the Viewing Gallery.
