The "My Vision of Cross Bay Link" Design Ideas Invitation Event attracted high quality and innovative concepts which the Civil Engineering and Development Department would study carefully in order to fuse these ideas into the bridge design options of the Cross Bay Link in Tseung Kwan O.

The Director of Civil Engineering and Development, Mr John Chai, made the remarks at the event's prize presentation and roving exhibitions opening ceremony today (November 6).

Mr Chai said that there was a need to develop infrastructure facilities for Tseung Kwan O as the future population of the new town would exceed 400,000.

"The department aims to develop Tseung Kwan O into a new town of character with an enhanced living environment.  Through this event, we hope to make use of the innovative design ideas from professionals and the public, and to join with them to make Cross Bay Link the landmark of Tseung Kwan O New Town," he said.

The Professional Group was open to full members of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers, the Hong Kong Institute of Architects and the Hong Kong Designers Association as well as equivalent professional institutes. The jury panel selected three merit entries and three commendation entries from each of the Professional and Open groups.  The Chairman of the Jury Panel, Legislative Council member Professor Patrick Lau, said the standard of the entries was very high and the great variety of concepts reflected the creativity of the participants.
