Man imprisoned for assault on FEHD officer
******************************************

A man who had assaulted a Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) officer in execution of her duties was sentenced to 20 days' imprisonment in Tuen Mun Magistrates' Courts today (November 4).

The FEHD officer was attacked when she was proceeding to take out prosecution against the defendant who was found dumping litter on the pavement outside San Hui Market in Kai Man Path, Tuen Mun on July 29 this year.

The defendant was also fined $500 for dumping litter in public place.

"Use of violence against public officers is not only wrong, but also carries legal consequences," an FEHD spokesman said.

"People should co-operate with law enforcement officers in the execution of their duties," he added.
