The Government has accepted the advice of the Disaster Relief Fund Advisory Committee and approved a grant of $1.41 million from the Disaster Relief Fund to the Cedar Fund to undertake a relief project for earthquake victims in Indonesia.
Announcing the grant today (November 4), a Government spokesman said that the Committee hoped the grant would help provide relief to earthquake victims in Indonesia.
"To ensure that the money will be used for the designated purpose, the relief agency has been asked to submit an evaluation report and audited accounts on the use of the grant after the relief project has been completed," the spokesman said.
The grant is further to a disbursement of $4 million made earlier for World Vision Hong Kong to provide emergency relief to earthquake victims in Indonesia. It takes the total value of grants for earthquake victims in Indonesia to $5.41 million.
