Fatal traffic accident in Kowloon City

     Police are appealing for witnesses to a traffic accident in Kowloon City this morning (November 2) in which an 80-year-old man died.

     A heavy goods vehicle driven by a 54-year-old man was travelling along west on Waterloo Road just after 9am. After passing the junction with Pui Ching Road, the vehicle is believed to have hit and run over the man who was crossing the road.

     The man sustained serious thigh injuries and was rushed to Kwong Wah Hospital where he was certified dead at 9.20am.

     The 54-year-old man was later arrested for dangerous driving causing death. He was allowed to bail out pending further enquiry.

     Investigations by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, Kowloon West are continuing.
