*********************************************************

Police yesterday (October 30) arrested two men in Cheung Sha Wan and seized about 11 kilogram of suspected cocaine and 4 kilograms of suspected cannabis buds with an estimated market value of about $8.2 million.

Following extensive investigation into information that a drug trafficking syndicate would traffic in drugs to Hong Kong, Narcotics Bureau (NB) officers subsequently identified a storage company in Cheung Sha Wan which was believed to have been used for drug storage.

At about 6pm yesterday, NB officers arrested two men, aged 19 and 31, onboard a private car in Wing Hong Street. A subsequent search on a storage company in an industrial building on the same street resulted in the seizure of about 11kg of suspected cocaine and 4kg of suspected cannabis buds. About $120,000 in cash was also seized in the 31-year-old man¡¦s possession.

Initial investigation revealed that the traffickers had stored the drugs in the storage company. Police believed the seizure could fetch about $8.2 million if sold in the local retail market.

The men were arrested for trafficking in dangerous drugs and they will be charged later tonight. They will appear in Kowloon City Magistrates¡¦ Courts on Monday (November 2).
