Territory-wide operation to promote public light bus safety

     Police issued 63 summonses and fixed penalty tickets to public light bus (PLB) drivers during a territory-wide operation against traffic offences involving PLBs last Thursday (October 22) and yesterday (October 29).

     During the 2-day campaign, Police conducted 14 operations with officers patrolling at PLBs to observe the driving manner of drivers. Plainclothes officers were also posed as PLB passengers to combat various traffic offences. Sixty-three summonses and fixed penalty tickets were issued to the PLB drivers for various traffic offences. Three Defective Vehicle Forms were also issued to PLBs which were suspected to have structural defects.

     Police have accorded high enforcement priority against passenger service vehicles committing traffic offences such as dangerous driving, careless driving, speeding and traffic light offences.

     Police will continue to take various enforcement actions with a view to improving road safety.
