More emergency relief grants approved for typhoon victims in Philippines
************************************************************

The Government has accepted the advice of the Disaster Relief Fund Advisory Committee and approved two grants from the Disaster Relief Fund totalling $3.32 million to two relief agencies to undertake relief projects for typhoon victims in the Philippines.

Announcing the grants today (October 30), a government spokesman said the committee hoped the two grants - one of $520,000 to The Amity Foundation and another one of $2.8 million to Oxfam Hong Kong - would help provide relief to the victims.

"To ensure that the money will be used for the designated purposes, the two relief agencies have been asked to submit evaluation reports and audited accounts on the use of the grants after the relief projects have been completed," the spokesman said.

The grants are further to a disbursement of $6.8 million made earlier for two relief organisations to provide emergency relief to typhoon victims in the Philippines. It takes the total value of grants for typhoon victims in the Philippines to $10.12 million.
