Wan Chai Community Arts Festival showcases cross-cultural performances

     Ever fancy watching traditional dances of Indonesia, Nepal, Korea or China, as well as African drum and Chinese lion dances in one go? Now, you can enjoy these diversified, cross-cultural performances by local performers and ethnic minorities tomorrow (October 31) without leaving the city.

     Wan Chai Community Arts Festival will be held from 2pm to 5.30pm tomorrow  in Paterson Street, Great George Street and East Point Road Pedestrian Precinct. Admission is free. The festival is co-organised by the Wan Chai District Office, Wan Chai District Council, Wan Chai East, South and West Area Committees.

     All the performing groups in the festival are from the Wan Chai district with people of different ages and ethnicities. South Asian dancers from the Islamic Union of Hong Kong will perform Indonesian dances and Nepalese dances, while students from Marymount Secondary School will perform Korean dances. Strong-beat African drums, as well as elegant brass quintet brought by the Hong Kong Academy of Performance Arts will also be featured in the festival.  

     Other highlights of the festival include band show, hip hop dance, aerobics, jazz dance, drama, Chinese lion dances, magic show and karate, aiming at introducing different art forms to members of the public.
