A total of 180 wet goods stalls and three fast food stalls at the Victoria Park Lunar New Year Fair were successfully let in an open auction today (October 28).
About 620 people attended the auction at the Queen Elizabeth Stadium, Wan Chai, from 9am to 6pm today, a spokesman for the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department said.
The average bid price for the wet goods stalls was $16,369, with the successful bids ranging from $7,820 to $46,800. The highest bid of $46,800 was almost six times the opening price of $7,820.
The auction of wet goods stalls fetched a total of $2,946,440, compared with $2,134,020 last year.
For the fast food stalls, the bid price for the 7.6 x 4.8 metre stall was $490,000, against an opening price of $230,180. The bid prices for the two 5 x 4 metre stalls were both $280,000, against an opening price of $123,290.
The auction for the eight thematic dry goods stalls and 284 dry goods stalls will be held at 9am tomorrow at the same venue.
