30 building plans approved in September

     The Buildings Department approved 30 building plans in September - 14 on Hong Kong Island, four in Kowloon and 12 in the New Territories.

     Of the approved plans, nine were for apartment and apartment/commercial developments, nine were for commercial developments, four were for factory and industrial developments, and eight were for community services developments.

     In the same month, consent was given for work to start on 23 building projects that, when completed, will provide 33,926 square metres of gross floor area for domestic use, involving 249 units, and 119,636 square metres of gross floor area for non-domestic use. The department has received notification of commencement of work for 17 building projects.

     The department also issued 11 occupation permits ¡V three on Hong Kong Island, two in Kowloon and six in the New Territories.

     Of the buildings certified for occupation, the gross floor areas for domestic use were 4,504 square metres, involving 42 units, and 28,005 square metres for non-domestic use.

     The declared cost of the new buildings completed in September totalled about $0.6 billion.

     In addition, 14 demolition consents involving 14 building structures were issued.

     The department received 2,424 complaints against unauthorised building works in September, and issued 1,662 removal orders on unauthorised works.
