More than a hundred district associations will stage street performances and variety shows at a Halloween and arts village in Tsuen Wan at the Tsuen Wan Halloween Arts Day to be held this Saturday (October 24).
The arts carnival is jointly organised by the Tsuen Wan Community Arts Day Organising Committee and Tsuen Wan Trade Association, co-organised by the Tsuen Wan District Office and sponsored by the Tsuen Wan District Council.
To be held at Citywalk, Wo Tik Street and San Tsuen Street in Tsuen Wan, the carnival is open for all from 1.30pm to 7pm and admission is free.
Four performance zones will be set up at the Citywalk Piazza and vicinity where there will be a variety of performances including playing of musical instruments, dancing, singing, Chinese traditional "changing faces", Cantonese opera, acrobatics, a lion dance by children, rope skipping and wushu.
With the coming of Halloween, a Halloween Village with 10 specially designed huts will be set up where the public can enjoy a free festive make-up service and have fun making Halloween accessories and masks.
The public can also visit booths featuring Chinese traditional crafts and try their hand at handicrafts such as hand-woven grasshoppers, beads and mural paintings. Also on display at the venue will be ground paintings, installation arts, antique vehicles and horses.
With a mix of historic and cultural elements of Tsuen Wan district, the event aims to bring together the community to strengthen residents' sense of belonging and deepen their understanding of culture and arts.
More than 100 local organisations, schools, social welfare agencies and commercial enterprises will participate in the event, demonstrating the social harmony and unity of the district's different sectors.
