Calligraphy and painting exhibition displays works of seven local elderly artists (with photos)

     A Chinese calligraphy and painting exhibition will be held by the Hong Kong Youth Cultural and Arts Competitions from October 19 to 21 (Monday to Wednesday) to display 70 works by seven renowned local elderly artists.

     The public is invited to visit the exhibition which will be held at the Exhibition Gallery, 7/F, High Block, Hong Kong City Hall. Admission is free.

     Co-organised by the Hong Kong Lan Ting Society and Hong Kong Culture and Art Promotion Association, the exhibition is one of the highlight activities to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China and the 35th anniversary of Hong Kong Youth Cultural and Arts Competitions.

     All seven artists, Mr Chan Sum, Mr Chan Hoi-ying, Mr Lo Koon-chiu, Mr Cheung Nim-ping, Mr Keung Pei-chong, Mr Yee Kee-fu and Mr Wong Chai-lok, are based in Hong Kong and have been working tirelessly in the creation, education and promotion of Chinese culture and arts. Their specialty areas include oil painting, sculpture, Chinese painting and calligraphy.

     The date and opening hours of the exhibition are as follows:

5.30pm to 7.30pm on October 19, 2009
10am to 7pm on October 20, 2009
10am to 6pm on October 21, 2009

     The exhibition's opening ceremony will be at 7pm on October 19 and the Director of Home Affairs, Mrs Pamela Tan, will officiate.
