Police are investigating a murder and attempted suicide case in Tuen Mun this afternoon (October 14) in which a 12-year-old girl and 13-year-old boy died.
About 1.15pm, a 38-year-old woman made a report to police that she and her family was burning charcoal inside their residence at Greenland Garden. When police arrived, the woman, her 12-year-old daughter and 13-year-old son were found lying unconscious inside bedroom. A basin with burnt charcoal was found nearby.
The boy and the girl were certified dead at scene while the woman were rushed to Tuen Mun hospital in semi-conscious state.
The woman was arrested for murder after investigation. She is still being detained for further enquiries.
Post-mortem examinations will be conducted tomorrow (October 15) to ascertain the cause of the children's death.
Investigations by the District Crime Squad of Tuen Mun are underway.
