A man who has assaulted a Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) officer and prevented him from executing duties was sentenced to one month's imprisonment in Kwun Tong Magistrates' Courts today (October 9).
The FEHD officer was attacked when he was proceeding to take out prosecution against the defendant who was found spitting at Sai Yeung Choi Street South, Mong Kok on July 9 this year.
The defendant was also fined $400 for spitting in the street and $600 for failure to provide personal particulars and proof of identity for inspection.
"Use of violence against public officers is not only wrong, but also carries legal consequences," an FEHD spokesman said.
