Local version of Broadway's "The Pajama Game" to show
*****************************************************

Hong Kong 3 Arts Musical Institute will stage the Broadway romantic comedy "The Pajama Game", featuring local music stars in a show of vigorous dance and songs.

The original Broadway production of "The Pajama Game" ran for more than 1,000 performances and won three Tony Awards including Best Musical and Best Choreography. The 2006 Broadway revival won a Tony Award for Best Revival of a Musical, and it was also made into a highly successful Hollywood movie. The Hong Kong version will be performed by energetic actors including Gary Tam, Corinna Chamberlain, Simon Lo, Jenus Ho, Gigi Cheng and Rick Lau, who promise audiences an enjoyable and romantic night out in the Broadway atmosphere.

The story takes place at the Sleep-Tite Pajama Factory: love is simmering between the handsome new superintendent Sid and employee representative Babe, who sit on opposite sides of the negotiating table clashing over pay rises. Meanwhile, the flirty Gladys is playing hard-to-get with Hines, the jealous production manager. The battle of the sexes plays out in this rollicking musical comedy as Sid strives to bring peace to the factory and to his love life.

The Hong Kong 3 Arts Musical Institute was founded to provide musical theatre training and performing opportunities to music lovers of all levels. It has invited overseas artists to teach master classes and workshops regularly, nurturing talent and upholding high musical performance standards. The institute has produced many shows for schools, theatres, shopping arcades and business organisations. It also has worked with the Leisure and Cultural Services Department(LCSD), Hong Kong Arts Festival, Macao Cultural Centre and the University of Hong Kong to produce shows and devise educational and audience development programmes. Its recent productions include "Once On This Island", "Broadway Express" and "Mirage: Dances from Sahara to Broadway".
