A range of single and two-storey wooden and tin-sheeted structure used as domestic, measuring about 35 x 30 metres, was severely damaged in a No.3 fire alarm at Kau Wa Keng Old Village, Lai Chi Kok yesterday (October 2).
The fire broke out at 3.32pm yesterday and was upgraded to No. 3 alarm at 4.43pm. It was surrounded at 6.15pm and put out at 6.30pm.
Firemen used eight jets and mobilised twelve breathing apparatus teams to fight the blaze.
An 86-year-old woman felt unwell and was sent to Princess Margaret Hospital for medical treatment by ambulance. She was in stable condition.
About one hundred and fifty persons were evacuated to place of safety.
