Responding to media reports about The Ombudsman's investigation into the Hongkong Post Circular Service, Hongkong Post confirms that an investigation report has been received from the Office of The Ombudsman.
The Ombudsman's investigation was conducted in response to a complaint against unaddressed circular mail sent through the Hongkong Post Circular Service without an effective opt-out arrangement. The Ombudsman finds the complaint substantiated and considers Hongkong Post's existing opt-out scheme ineffective. The Ombudsman recommends that Hongkong Post reviews and explores an effective way for citizens to opt out if they do not wish to receive circular mail.
Hongkong Post accepts the recommendation and will complete a review on enhancing the opt-out scheme within three months.
