The Hong Kong Mortgage Corporation Limited (HKMC) announced today (September 30) the appointment of Mr Norman Chan Tak Lam as Deputy Chairman and an Executive Director of the HKMC with effect from October 1, 2009 upon the retirement of Mr Joseph Yam Chi Kwong. An updated list of the Directors of the HKMC is at the Annex.
Mr Chan joined the Administrative Services of the Hong Kong Government in 1976. In 1991, he was appointed Deputy Director (Monetary Management) of the Office of the Exchange Fund. Mr Chan became an Executive Director of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) in 1993 and served as Deputy Chief Executive of the HKMA between 1996 and May 2005. During this period, Mr Chan also served as an Executive Director of the HKMC from its incorporation in March 1997 to May 2005. From December 2005 to June 2007, Mr Chan joined Standard Chartered Bank as Vice Chairman, Asia. Mr Chan was appointed Director of the Chief Executive Office of the Hong Kong Government in July 2007 and has recently been appointed Chief Executive of the HKMA with effect from October 1, 2009.
