National Day fireworks display at 8pm tomorrow (with photo)
***********************************************************

The National Day fireworks display will light up Victoria Harbour tomorrow night (October 1) to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. Starting at 8pm, more than 31,888 fire shells will be discharged in the 23-minute display.

The display is sponsored by the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce, and co-ordinated by the Home Affairs Bureau.

The fireworks display consists of nine scenes of different themes. The first and second scene feature colourful and spectacular fireworks to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, and also the pride of China. In scene seven, there will be smiley and heart-shaped fireworks to show the spirit of Hong Kong people.  The fireworks display reaches its climax at the last scene with fast and rhythmic firing of shells displaying the Chinese characters for "China 60", wishing all the best to the home country.

The display can be seen from many vantage points on both sides of the harbour, including Tsim Sha Tsui, Mid-levels, Central District, Wan Chai, Causeway Bay and Hung Hom Bypass.

To make the display even more enjoyable, viewers are invited to tune to Radio Television Hong Kong Radio Four (FM 97.6 - 98.9) for synchronised music.

In case of inclement weather tomorrow, people should pay attention to latest media announcements.

People are urged to help keep public areas clean and to show respect for public property.  They are also urged to show consideration in order to make the event a safe one.
