Police will implement special traffic arrangements in Shau Kei Wan to facilitate the National Day celebration to be held on October 1 (Thursday).
The following traffic and transport arrangements will be implemented between 7.30am and 4.30pm:
A. Road closures
The following sections of roads will be closed to all vehicular traffic:
(i) The section of Shau Kei Wan Main Street East between Kam Wa Street and Tung Hei Road;
(ii) The section of Oi Lai Street eastbound between Oi Yin Street and Tung Hei Road;
(iii) The section of Oi Yin Street northbound between Aldrich Bay Road and Oi Lai Street;
(iv) The section of Kam Wa Street between Shau Kei Wan Main Street East and Wang Wa Street;
(v) The section of Factory Street between Shau Kei Wan Main Street East and Wang Wa Street;
(vi) The section of Factory Street (westbound leftmost lane) between Shau Kei Wan Main Street East and Tai Tak Street;
(vii) Wang Wa Street; and
(viii) Basel Road.
B. Traffic diversions
(i) Vehicles on Shau Kei Wan Main Street East and Factory Street will be prohibited from entering Wang Wa Street;
(ii) Vehicles on Tung Hei Road southbound will be prohibited from turning left to Shau Kei Wan Main Street East and must turn right to Oi Lai Street;
(iii) Vehicles on Oi Yin Street southbound heading for Oi Lai Street will be diverted via Aldrich Bay Road and Tung Hei Road;
(iv) Vehicles from the carpark of Aldrich Garden must turn left onto Oi Lai Street westbound; and
(v) Vehicles on Aldrich Bay Road heading for Oi Yin Street will be diverted via Tung Hei Road and Oi Lai Street.
C. Bus stop suspension
The bus stop on Oi Yin Street northbound outside Oi Chak House, Oi Tung Estate will be temporarily suspended.
D. Temporary Suspension of taxi stand
The taxi stand at Oi Yin Street will be temporarily suspended.
E. Temporary Suspension of Metered/Motorcycle Parking Spaces
The metered/motorcycle parking spaces at the following locations will be temporarily suspended:
(i) All metered parking spaces in the section of Kam Wa Street between Shau Kei Wan Main Street East and Wang Wa Street;
(ii) All metered and motorcycle parking spaces in Kam Wa Street and Wang Wa Street; and
(iii) The carparks on the above closed roads will be closed at short notice if the Police consider it necessary. Vehicles parked in carparks within the closed areas will not be permitted to leave the carparks during the road closure periods until the roads are re-opened for normal traffic.
Motorists are advised to take heed of traffic signs and follow instructions of Traffic Police at the scene.
