Choreographer Mui Cheuk Yin will stage "Diary VI. Applause..." in November - the sixth work of the "Diary" series that has grown into a dance theatre of considerable length, that she has choreographed, produced and performed by herself.
The series began in 1986 with "Diary I - I Was Born in China...". Mui uses the dance stage as a note pad, on which she scribbles down what she thinks about life, people, and things happening to her. The truth revealed in her sensibilities is absolutely engaging.
The star-studded production personnel include Dick Wong (text), Yuri Ng (stage designer), Anthony Yeung (sound designer), Ringo Chan (visual designer) and Kathleen Ng (producer).
Mui Cheuk Yin began her dance training in Chinese dance in the1970s, and joined the Hong Kong Dance Company in the 1980s, where she was the lead dancer in the dance drama productions including "The Yellow Earth" and "Jade Love and Rouge". She became an independent artist in the 1990s, actively performing, choreographing and producing dance works in Hong Kong and on the international stage. Since moving from Chinese dance to modern dance, Mui has found her own unique style and made her mark. Some of her representative works include "Awakenings in a Dream", "Eulogy", "Cursive Script", "October Red" and "Desperately Seeking Miss Blossom".
